The Third Star as foal back in March 2022

Everyone at Strawberry Fields Stud was in a buoyant mood on Monday after the Stud's homebred filly The Third Star won a Southwell Fillies' Novice on Sunday evening. The Chris Dwyer trained filly edged across from her high draw to dictate proceedings and when asked in the straight, the daughter of Iffraaj galloped clear to win by 3 1/2 lengths eased down.

This was the filly's second start after she posted a promising effort at the back end of her two-year old season. She has strengthened up markedly and matured mentally and Chris and his team did an excellent job in readying her for her seasonal debut. There were some well regarded fillies in behind and the Racing Post gave her a RPR of 86. She has the scope to step forward from this and we hope many exciting times lie ahead. It was a lucrative victory as The Third Star landed a £20,000 GBB bonus on top of the £16,200 prize for coming first.

Her Sire Iffraaj needs no introduction, he is the sire of Coolmore's prolific Stallion Wootton Bassett as well as crack miler Ribchester who has sired the Grade 1 winning Facteur Cheval. Recent Lockinge winner Audience is also by the Darley sire. This fillies' dam is the late Thraya Star who was by Shamardal and has produced two previous winners. As well as two time winner Youmzain Star she is also the dam of With Love who was a useful two year-old winner in Ireland before being sold to race in America. A mile looks within the compass of The Third Star looking at her performance at Southwell and her pedigree. We also have Thraya Star's last foal in training with Chris. He is a full-brother to With Love and looks a strong type who we hope to have fun with in the future.
